highlights from the Pōwhiri of the 2017 Wānanga/Fono

The theme in 2017 was – Educators making a difference for Māori & Pasifika learners
            through literacy and numeracy.
The purpose was – to support sector-wide educator capacity and support efforts to improve
literacy and numeracy outcomes for Māori and Pasifika learners.
            The goals were:

            1. To provide a forum for educators of Māori and Pasifika learners and PLD (Professional
Learning Development) trainers to reflect, debate and share good practice
            2. To further develop the educators who attended

            3. To identify good practice and how it could be scaled up
            4. To continue to have two-way communication between government and educators
            5. To continue knowledge exchange, conversations, and collaboration across the sector to
               make a difference
            6. To seek creative solutions which enhance literacy and numeracy outcomes for Māori and
               Pasifika learners
            7. To strengthen connections between the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, Tū Māia, and
               the Pasifika Operational Strategy.

We hope this Digital Flipbook provides you with an increased sense of:
