                                     Kathryn Hazlewood
                                     Principal Advisor Strategy and Priorities
                                     Kathryn Hazlewood has worked at TEC since 2012 as a researcher.  She was seconded into
                                     the current Principal Advisor Literacy and Numeracy role over a year ago. Her  parents were
                                     both teachers and she understands the influence an educator can have on an individual.
                                     She loves working in her current role and feels very privileged to be part of such important
                                     work. She is constantly inspired by all the people she meets from the sector who are driven
                                     to make a difference. She comes from the Mangakino area and went to Marotiri School
                   AND               where her dad was the headmaster.

                                     David Do
                                     Advisor, Literacy and Numeracy
                                     David Do has been Advisor Literacy and Numeracy at the TEC since 2012. He led the refresh
                                     of the TEC’s Adult Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy which set directions
                                     for the TEC’s future work in this priority area. Son of a Vietnamese refugee and Chinese
                                     migrant, he’s a proud Kiwi born in Auckland. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Politics
                                     from the University of Auckland. David was the Co-President of the New Zealand Union
                                     of Students’ Associations 2010-2011 after being Auckland University Students’ Association
                   AND               president in 2008.


                                     Katerina Porou
                                     Principal Advisor – Māori

                                     Katerina  is  of  Ngāti  Porou,  Ngāti  Tuwharetoa,  Ngāti  Kahungunu  and  Ngāi  Tāmanuhiri
                                     descent. She was born on the east coast of the North Island and raised in the small town of
                                     Tūrangi. Katerina has had a diverse career portfolio having worked across the public sector
                                     for the past 19 years.  Her roles have included management/policy and analysis in sectors
                                     such as education, health, social, iwi, Māori land development and parliamentary services.
                                     Katerina is highly passionate about Māori achievement and advancement, and in particular,
                                     helping bridge the gaps for Māori.

                   Keynote Speaker from Ako Aotearoa


                   “Frameworks of professional standards for tertiary

                   teaching: Including Māori and Pacific perspectives”
                                     Dr Stanley Frielick
                                     Director of Ako Aotearoa (National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence)
                                     Prior to taking up this role in late 2016, Stanley worked at AUT for nine years in leadership
                                     roles related to teaching and learning, after earlier roles at NorthTec and the University of
                                     Auckland. He has a deep commitment to Māori and Pacific learner success.
